Kernow English Hub
We are proud to be one of 34 English Hubs nationwide which are funded by the Department for Education.
Our aim is to support schools in enabling children to flourish in early language and reading skills. We provide support focused on three areas:
- Early-language development and ‘closing the word gap’.
- Age-appropriate phonics: encouraging fidelity to a single systematic synthetic phonics programme and supporting the effective use of decodable books.
- Promoting a love of reading through a focus on reading aloud, the use of high-quality texts and developing teachers’ knowledge of children’s literature.
